This course will be delivered over 3 years with a possibility of this course being completed earlier, this will depend on relevant industry experience and assessed by each individual apprentice. The apprentice will be required to attend Choice Training 1 day per week

Occupational profile:

This occupation is found in the Building Services Sector of the Construction Industry.

The broad purpose of the occupation is to plan, select and size, install, commission, service and maintain (including fault finding, diagnosis and repair) zero carbon central heating and hot water systems in buildings including dwellings and industrial and commercial premises. Zero carbon heat sources may include but are not limited to Ground and Air Source Heat Pumps and Solar Thermal Collectors. The occupation includes work on both new build and existing properties and typically involves the installation, service, fault finding and repair of zero carbon heating and hot water appliances, storage vessels, pipework, heat emitters and associated components and their mechanical and electrical control systems.

In their daily work, an employee in this occupation interacts with customers and end users, and as such requires a high level of customer service. The role is physical in nature and involves the manual handling of heavy equipment, working at height and in confined spaces.

An employee in this occupation will be responsible for working both independently with a minimum of supervision and as a member of a team involving close liaison and cooperation with site and line management, colleagues and other trades.

Cost

The cost of this course is £22,000 over the 3 years of the course.

 

If you are a levy paying company with a payroll over £3 million, then the money will be taken direct from your levy pot

If your company has a payroll of less than £3 million then you are a non-levy company meaning the government will fund 95% of the cost £ 20,900, leaving the balance of £1,100 to be paid by the employer over the course duration.

Choice Training will invoice the employer direct every quarter; any monies not paid to Choice Training can result in the apprentice being removed from the course

Employer paperwork:

The following paperwork will need to be completed along with a Digital Apprenticeship Account created before the apprentice starts college. Andrea will be in touch for these documents

 

  • Contract of employment

  • Public & employer liability insurance sent to Choice

  • Apprenticeship agreement signed

  • Commitment statement to be signed by all parties

If the candidate does not have the required Maths & English, then they will be required to undertake an initial assessment to test their suitability to the course. If the IA is passed, then functional skills will be run alongside the apprenticeship as these are needed to complete the programme

 

They will need to bring the following documents for enrolment

  • Passport

  • Contract of employment

  • Previous qualifications including English & Maths

  • NI Number
