What is a Scholarship?

A Choice Training Scholarship is financial help, granted to women of all ages and abilities who wish to start a career in plumbing. The course runs for 1 Academic year, and students are required to attend college 2 days per week. All women who are offered a place on our Scholarship, will receive this course absolutely FREE OF CHARGE. Within a year, you could be a fully qualified plumber, with the ability to be self employed and working your own hours. Our scholarship course has been running for a number of years and has proven to be a great success.

"they have helped me climb ladders that I could never have done without their help"

-Sally King, Level 3 NVQ at Choice Training

Why do we need more women?

Women plumbers are rare in the trade. With the growing economy in the country, there is a constant demand for newly qualified plumbers. There are employers all across the nation crying out for women plumbers to enable them to diversify their workforce. Women plumbers are also a welcome site to fellow women and the elderly who do not feel comfortable allowing a man into their home. Self employed female plumbers have a huge client base, usually through recommendation from a previous client.

" Clients were pleased that I did the job as well as any man when I had finished"

-Sally King, Level 3 NVQ at Choice Training

How can a plumbing career help You?

Plumbers are far from the toilet unblocking stereotype; in fact, nearly all of our students, apprentices and tutors have never unblocked a toilet whilst at work! The majority of our plumbing apprentices, qualified plumbers, and female plumbers, are usually installing new bathroom suites or boilers. The work requires an attention to detail, precision and job satisfaction that is rare in other trades. Our female plumbers benefit from the flexibility of being self employed and taking the opportunity to fit their work around childcare and other commitments. Self employed plumbers are able to set their own costs and schedule that suits them.

“My name is Kayleigh Walby,

I came to Choice Training on a one day taster day and really enjoyed it, I knew then that I wanted to be a Plumber. Being a single mum of two girls this was not going to be easy financially but Choice Training helped me with their ‘Get girls into plumbing’ scholarship and made this possible. I found the course so easy to pick up and have loved every single moment of learning this trade, knowing that this is the start of a better future for my family. After a couple of months I was able to start accepting private jobs and the staff were always on hand with tips and advice. I am coming to the end of this course now and have managed to secure myself full time employment with the means to earn a comfortable wage, enabling myself to financially support my family. Without the help, support and guidance from choice Training I wouldn’t be where I am now. Thank you so much, I shall always be grateful to choice for turning my life around”.
