A moment with… former Choice Training apprentice, Harry Deller

Harry Deller, was a Choice Training student who qualified with a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Planned & Reactive Maintenance. He is now a Senior Engineering technician at Bank of England. He talks to us about his time at Choice Training and where he is now in his career, read his story…

Hi Harry,

How was your time at Choice Training?

After a turbulent 2 years at a previous un-organised, poor college, coming to Choice Training was a breath of fresh air and huge relief. From the moment I enrolled, I was greeted with pleasant and helpful staff, well organised workshops, pristine classrooms and clean, comfortable facilities. There was everything and more that I needed in order to achieve what I required.

The staff and tutors ensured that our learning was not only delivered in the correct way but also in an effective and fun way. Having tutors who have a great amount of knowledge helps with this!

Choice Training also considered not only our educational needs but also our welfare – offering fun ways to interact in the lounge area by being able to play table tennis and have access to a vending machine (Which is cheaper than high street shops!) should we need a drink or snack.

The staff at Choice will always take the time out to talk to you and ensure you are as happy as can be in both your personal and your work life and will often provide you with useful advice. Having attended several colleges now, Choice Training is easily head and shoulders above the rest! It’s safe to say that I will never forget my fantastic experience at Choice. I am proud to have attended Choice Training and to be part of the Choice family!

Have you stayed with your employer or moved on?

I have stayed with my employer The Bank of England from when I was an apprentice and fortunately, gained promotion to an Engineering Supervisor. Also, I am heavily involved with apprentices from the recruitment stage all the way through to the end of their courses!

Have you progressed to higher education?

Following on from my HVAC apprenticeship, I immediately proceeded to the 5357 Electrical Installation 4 year course which I am due to finish this year. After this, I have aspirations to further my studies at degree level.

Would you recommend Choice Training to your friends/colleagues?

I would have no hesitation in recommending Choice Training. Due to my recommendation, all apprentices at my workplace now attend Choice.

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us Harry, we wish you all the best with your continued studies and your career.
