"I attended Choice from 2015 to 2017 where I completed my Level 3 NVQ Apprenticeship in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. I started Choice under rather unusual circumstances – the college I was attending closed! Due to this, my employer (of whom I’m still with!), Bank Of England, asked me to find a suitable replacement.
After a summer of searching and attending various college campuses, it was clear that Choice not only ticked every box but enthused me with the way in which they was delivering the course and their learning methods both on a theoretical and practical basis! I’m proud to say that since completing my Apprenticeship in May 2017, the Bank of England have continued to send Apprentices to choice for both HVAC and Electrical NVQ Apprenticeship courses.
As I mentioned, I remained with my employer, Bank of England, on a Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Apprenticeship and was fortunate enough to be offered a full-time role upon completion of my qualification. Since 2017, I have continued to develop and work towards my long term goals and aspirations of which has resulted in me gaining two promotions! Firstly, I was promoted to a Senior Engineering Technician, of which is deemed a ‘Subject Matter Expert’ in my discipline which amongst other things, enabled me in particular to mentor and lead Apprentices with valuable hands on experience to help achieve completion on their portfolio in the work-place. Following on from that role, I was successful in a further promotion in which, is my current role as a Shift Team Leader. Again, I am still involved mentoring the engineers of the future however, I am now able to work closely with Choice Training to ensure the Apprentices are on the right path to completion! I am often reminded by the Apprentices I manage that attend Choice that even when they’re not in the workplace with me, they still have to see my ‘Student of the month’ photo hanging on a wall in the college – I hope they use that as motivation….
When I started my apprenticeship, I had just left school at 16 and this was my first ‘real job’. 13 years later and what’s changed? Other than my employer, almost everything else in my life! Shortly after starting my apprenticeship, I met girl of who 9 years later, I married! Together we bought a house and most recently 2 years ago, had our first child. Maybe in 14 years time he could be a Choice Training Apprentice?! Sadly, what’s not changed is Arsenal have still not won the Champions League and England have not won the World Cup…
I will always look back at my time at Choice with nothing but fond memories of both the staff, the learning and my classmates – of which are friends for life."
We have so many success stories at Choice Training, and Harry’s achievement is just another example of what’s possible!
Well done, Harry!
